DEVINE WINS HOUSING INDUSTRY AWARD WITH MONACO

Wednesday 24 October 2007

Devine Homes has won the Housing Industry Association’s South Australian award for "Best Display Home $150,000 to $175,000" for its Monaco design, on display at Salisbury in northern Adelaide.

The prestigious award places the builder as a finalist in the 2008 National HIA Awards, which are expected to be held in May.

The winning Monaco design was created by Devine’s new specialist in-house design centre, Design Edge, led by design expert Michael Battistella.

The national design office comprises a team of five expert designers and is the creative hub of Devine’s new range of aspirational homes.

“Devine is now established as a major national developer and its new line of home designs reflect the expertise and maturing of the company,” Mr Battistella said.

“Design Edge provides specialist design services and advice to each of the company’s divisions, from the initial site acquisition through to the community masterplan, and innovative home designs, interior detailing and landscaping.

“In addition to our own expert team, we work closely with award-winning external design agencies to deliver the very latest in innovative design.

“This integrated approach enables Devine to offer a range of quality designer homes at each of its estates, as well as the ability to tailor these homes to suit the lifestyle and budget of the individual home buyer.”

The HIA award caps off a year where Devine has expanded significantly in SA and broadened its exciting product range and lifestyle offerings.

The company has identified SA as a key market for future growth, and has recently acquired sites in prime locations including Burton, Munno Para, Sellicks Beach and Andrews Farm. In May 2007 Devine secured a 18.85 hectare parcel in Mount Barker for $13.9 million.

“Expanding the Devine range has produced a series of home and lifestyle options that will appeal to a range of people and families,’’ Devine South Australia General Manager Steve Weightman said.

“This industry award demonstrates our homes in this range are competitive, value for money and attractive to South Australian home buyers.”

The three-bedroom Monaco has a high-design component and features two bathrooms, a double garage, two living areas and two alfresco areas.

Mr Weightman said the modern clean lines of the home attracted families seeking a lifestyle home.

“The Monaco offers privacy and space and is ideal for the family who loves to entertain in style,” he said.

Devine’s new display village at Salisbury features four homes, suitable for everyone from investors to first home buyers to families with teenage children.

In addition to securing industry recognition for the Monaco design, Devine’s Lakeside Communities Estate at Andrews Farm also houses another HIA regional winner - DeChellis Homes - which won the "Best Display $175,000 to $200,000".

During 2006-07 Devine increased its national land bank by 51 per cent to total 4,580 lots as at 30 June 2007. Following a number of recent acquisitions the company now owns or controls more than 7000 lots in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

Devine founder and Managing Director David Devine said the company was well on track to achieve its target of building a national land bank of more than 10,000 blocks by mid 2010.

In May Leighton Holdings acquired a 40 per cent stake in Devine for $95.6 million which represented Leighton’s strategic entry into the residential development market.

On 29 August Devine announced an after tax profit of $21.367 million for the 2006-07 year, up 13.2 per cent on the previous year’s result.
