Leading developer Devine Communities has commenced civil works on its $70 million Mt Barker community, The Summit, with early work including the preservation of a number of significant trees.
The civil works will also include the marking out of the 61 residential allotments in Stage 1, construction of internal roads, an onsite stormwater management system, and other landscaping.
Devine South Australia General Manager Steve Weightman said the start of civil works was a significant milestone for The Summit, located off Hartman Road, which was destined to become one of Mt Barker's premier estates.
"From today Mt Barker residents will be able to see this community taking shape as they drive past and appreciate the important steps we have taken to protect the local environment," Mr Weightman said.
"These include the protection of nominated significant trees within fenced Tree Protection Zones. As added measures, the trees will also be mulched and receive maintenance pruning from an arborist to ensure their long-term health."
The civil works will also include the construction of a sedimentation basin as part of an on-site stormwater management system to avoid run off into the surrounding area and construction of a number of community parks.
Stage 1 of The Summit is the first of four scheduled for release over the next two years and includes 61 lots ranging in size from 600sqm to 1400sqm and starting at $175,000.
The large lots at The Summit will allow homebuyers to realise their dreams of relaxed, uncluttered living with space for the kids to play and room to store a caravan or a boat.
When completed in 2011, The Summit will include 192 lots and be home to approximately 500 people. The 18-hectare estate located off Hartman Road, adjacent to the Mt Barker Golf Course and the Mt Barker Waldorf School, will include three large reserves with 2.4 ha of open space.
As well as homesites Devine is offering a number of good-value home and land packages at The Summit starting at $317,900 for a three-bedroom home.
The Summit is within easy reach of primary schools and high schools, cinema, retail and convenience shopping and within a 5-minute drive of the Mt Barker Town Centre.
