Hamilton Harbour Leads the Way Forward As First Project Completed Under New Era Approvals

Tuesday 22 November 2011

Hamilton Harbour, Queensland’s largest residential project undertaken since the global financial crisis officially opens today, with the first residents gearing up to move into their apartments in the distinctive Harbour One and Harbour Two Towers, this week.

Queensland Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for State Development, the Honourable Andrew Fraser MP, officially opened the buildings, marking the completion of the first two stages of the three stage $500million development, the first ever project under the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) scheme.

A joint venture between two of Australia’s leading property companies, Leighton Properties and Devine Limited, Hamilton Harbour’s first two towers, respectively 22 and 19 storeys high, have stood out in the marketplace, with off-the-plan apartment sales eclipsing all others during 2010 and the first quarter of 2011.

With construction completed in record time, settlements on the project were able to begin last week, allowing a pre-Christmas handover.

Leighton Properties’ National Head of Residential, Gavin Tonnet said Hamilton Harbour was a signature project for the company and demonstrates Leighton Properties’ commitment to delivering iconic residential projects across Australia.

“Hamilton Harbour is a unique mixed-use development and its resounding success underpins the movement towards people seeking a precinct lifestyle that includes recreation, retail and work spaces all in the one place.

“Buyer take-up has reinforced that value and style together with the lifestyle offered at Hamilton Harbour is a great formula for the market.  Sales continue to be strong with the third tower, Riverside Hamilton, already 50 per cent sold.

Devine Limited Managing Director & CEO, Mr David Keir said Hamilton Harbour had out-performed competitors and surpassed all market expectations.

“Each Tower has gone into construction ahead of schedule based on strong pre-sales.

“It’s a good indication to the market that if you can get the product right, the buyers are there to take it up.”

Mr Keir said, “This week those buyers have been delighted that construction has finished in record time and they can settle earlier than expected.”

“It is a testament to the talent and drive of the Devine Construction division that they were able to deliver a project of this scale in a year which delivered its fair share of both economic and environmental challenges.”

“The Boulevard retail precinct and the commercial tenancies which form part of the Hamilton Harbour Master Community are currently under construction with an anticipated delivery in late 2012.”
